Jezebel
The princess Jezebel was the wife of Ahab, the king of the northern Kingdom of Israel. She is identified in the Bible as the daughter of Ethbaal, King of the Sidonians, and Josephus identifies her as the great-aunt of Dido, Queen of Carthage. Her story is told in the Biblical books, Kings I and Kings II, which describe Jezebel as a Phoenician princess who, after her marriage to King Ahab, leads him to the worship of the Phoenician god Baal, arranges for many prophets to be killed, and becomes the enemy of the prophet Elijah after he challenges her prophets to a competitions and exposes Baal as a false god, and then has the false prophets killed.
