Jethro

In the Bible, Jethro is the father-in-law of Moses, a Kenite shepherd and a priest of El Shaddai, and is also called Reuel. In the Qur’an, Jethro is recognized as Shuaib or Shoaib. He is also a prophet in the Druze religion. The name Jethro means “His Excellence” or “Posterity”. Jethro’s daughter Zipporah married Moses after he had fled from Egypt. Moses served Jethro as a shepherd for 40 years before returning to Egypt. Jethro followed Moses and the Hebrews on their journey through the desert, and encouraged Moses to create a court system to allow others to help him judge and guide the people in smaller matters.
