Adam and Eve
Adam was the first man which God made at the end of the 6th day of creation. From Adam’s rib God then created his wife, Eve, and together they had two sons, Cain and Able. Later in the narrative they have one additional son, Seth. Adam and Eve were created in the Garden of Eden, which they were given by God to eat of the fruit of all the trees, except for one, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Eve was tempted by the serpent to taste of the fruit of this forbidden tree. As soon as she tasted, she offered a bite to Adam, who also tasted. God then punished Adam and Eve, expelling them from the Garden, and cursing each of them for all time. Adam’s curse, as the representative of mankind, was that he would have to work hard to earn a living, while that of Eve, and all of womankind, would be to give birth in pain.
